Past accomplishments

The Kowa birding team has had a rich history of success in birding events
since 1989. Here is a short summary of our achievements:

• 1989 World Series of Birding: 
  Highest ranking out of state team, winner Edwin I. Stearns Award. Fourth overall in event.

• 1990 World Series of Birding: 
  Highest ranking out of state team, winner Edwin I. Stearns Award. Third overall in event.

• 1991 World Series of Birding: 
  Highest ranking out of state team, winner Edwin I. Stearns Award. Third overall in event.

• 1992 World Series of Birding: 
  Highest ranking out of state team, winner Edwin I. Stearns Award. Third overall in event. 
  First out of state team to break the 200 species barrier.

• 1993 World Series of Birding: 
  Winner overall event, Urner Stone Cup. Winner Edwin I. Stearns Award.

• 1994 World Series of Birding: 
  Highest ranking out of state team, winner Edwin I. Stearns Award. Second overall in event.

• 1995 World Series of Birding: 
  Winner overall event, Urner Stone Cup. Winner Edwin I. Stearns Award.

• 1996 World Series of Birding: 
  Highest ranking out of state team, winner Edwin I. Stearns Award. Second overall in event.

• 1997 World Series of Birding: 
  Winner overall event, Urner Stone Cup. Winner Edwin I. Stearns Award.

• 1998 World Series of Birding: 
  Winner Cape Cup and LGA trophies. First team to win all four categories in the event.

• 1999 Great Texas Classic:  
  Second in lower coast category. Highest ranking out of state team.

• 2000 Great Texas Classic:  
  Winner overall event.

• 2001 Texas:    
  Breaking the 22 year old North American big day record in Texas!
